I found some 10.250 crystals out of China on ebay. They are in a short
HC-49 case. I soldered it on the wire pads and bent the retainer clip to
ground the case. It took a 3pF parallel capacitor (silver mica or C0G)
to get the frequency to net at a setting of 68h or 104. Not a direct drop
in, but you can get 10 of them for not much money!

Hi Robert, yes, it seems it’s not readily available which is a bit of a surprise since it is only a standard miniature Xtal nothing special size wise.
Anyway, as the Xtal is 20/25Hz high, I’m going to experiment with adding a small pf trimmer across it to see if I can pull it down a bit.
I know I have some of these in my workshop somewhere...but can’t find them, so had to order some, I will post the results of any improvement.
As these receivers are getting on a bit, I foresee this as a problem for most users in the future, so this mod might become useful for those that like to have their receiver spot on frequency.

Dunno if it can be sourced or replaced safely. I have the same issue, and it is a pain to save VHF and UHF frequencies with an offset to account for the 10.25 MHz not being correctly set.

Will watch to see if anyone has been able to replace it.
